This self-love guide is compiled by Jada Cunningham, the owner of Divine Download, and Kaitlin (Kai) Perkins, the owner of More Than OhKai. We hope these tips assist you in your journey and bring you comfort as you grow. You are a PHENOMENAL woman, honey. Don’t you dare forget it!
Note: Self love is a journey and not simply a destination. It’s actively choosing yourself and your well being each day. This journey will not be perfect, but it’s one worth taking.
It’s in the click
of my heels,
the bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
that’s me.”

Mental
1. Find your inner guide.
You are only in competition with your past self, current self, and future self. A greater self-love awaits when all three selves inform each other with self-acceptance, gratitude, and faith. When we are able to see the progress of our guides we can bring the fullness of our being into the present moment with confidence and clarity.
2. Meditate on your highest self.
“Your life moves in the direction of your most dominant thoughts”. Dominate your life with thoughts that elicit the emotion that you want to feel moving forward. Imagine yourself levels above any perceived limitation that holds you back! Grounding myself into this higher perspective allows me to lighten the energy of thoughts to allow more love to flow within my life.
3. Live with intention.
I recently heard on a podcast, “We only have two things in life; Time and Choices”. Living intentionally begins with bringing awareness to our choices; What we say No to defines us as much as what we say yes to”. Some days this looks like making a decision to pass on the actions that feed my ego instead of my soul. Let positive and uplifting choices send ripple effects through your life.

Physical
1. Fuel your body.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the saying “you are what you eat”. What remains true is that your body will respond based on what you feed it. Have you ever tried to exercise after eating a large, greasy meal? Let me tell you, it doesn’t end well. Be mindful of the foods that you eat since that’s where your body gains much of its energy. Additionally, you should be particular about the content you’re consuming online. Are there certain accounts you follow that just leave you feeling worse about yourself? Or perhaps there’s an app that you can scroll on for hours and then feel exhausted afterwards. Whatever it is, I challenge you to examine and release what no longer adds to your peace, happiness and growth.
2. Get moving!
Participate in activities that bring you joy. Get active and go on a nice walk or dance around your room to your favorite songs that have you feeling like Beyonce. Whatever it is, getting physical releases endorphins that have been proven to reduce stress.
3. Curate a space you love.
It’s important to create a space that feels welcoming, inspiring and relaxing. Whether that’s lighting your favorite candle or decorating your bedroom, your space is a reflection of you– let it be a good one!
